Description

Simple carrier for the NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano Developer kit carrier board with detachable DIN rail mounts. The lid is secured to the top of the carrier with four M3 screws. The bottom DIN rail mounts have space for an M4 nut, and are attached to the carrier base with an M4 screw.

Let me know if you have ideas to improve for the future / if you decide to make your own version! Some potential improvements I would like to see added at some point (by me or someone else):

  • Ventilation for a bottom-mounted M.2 SSD. Mine doesn't have any way of dumping heat right now.
  • Canopy over more of the top of the SOM + Heatsink. I don't want to cover the heatsink, but a simple structure spanning the top would go a long way in protecting the kit from a hit to the top. A new lid would be great :)
  • Additional mounting adapters besides the DIN rail mounts. I went with DIN rail for my other project (3D printed F1TENTH car based on the TARMO5), but your project may need some entirely different mounting solution (I.e., maybe you need something that mounts directly to 1" aluminum extrusion). My hope in making these detachable was so that you could make new mounts as needed!

This model was designed in OnShape (link here). It would be great to see remixes of this design / new designs on onshape with your ideas.

Great model! Two requests :). Can you make adjustments to the cover so that I can have a CSI cameras installed? I was going to try to cut out some of the material to allow enough clearance underneath while still holding the dev kit down. Second request - could you share your power circuit for connecting the Orin Nano with the 18V battery?
