Description

Update Log:

6/17/2025 Updated to V2 version:

  • New elastic stop claws to optimize the hand feel, with clearer segments, lighter sound, and improved durability.
  • Add an auxiliary tool for pin installation.
  • Leave two notches at the wheel to facilitate disassembly.
  • Draw support when modeling the Reel; no support setting is needed in slicing software, it should be removed before installation.

====================================================================================

The new-generation USB cable winder is specifically designed for super-fast charging TPE data cables with a diameter of 5mm or less. Featuring dual rollers at both ends combined with an open structure, it significantly reduces resistance during cable coiling to protect your data cable. The reel incorporates a spring-loaded pawl mechanism that engages with gear teeth on the base cover, producing a distinctive clicking sound with each rotation while preventing accidental loosening of the spool.

Simple to assemble and easy to print, requiring only 25g of filament and 1-hour printing.

For enhanced tactile feedback in the spring-loaded pawl mechanism and extended service life, PETG material is highly recommended for printing the winder components.

Great design - works smoothly - especially unwinding. Did anyone tried up scaling this for thicker and bigger cables ? Thanks to designer for sharing.

I scaled up to 125% and 150%. Both worked great.

Truly well-made, assembly is very simple and highly functional The only thing I don't understand is that there's an extra piece for each print (those visible in the second photo); what are they for

I use the extra pieces to help push the pegs into place, they fit perfectly and help alot!

good idea to use them for the pegs, but you can deselect it when printing ofc

I needed a cable winder for a 6 foot USB cord. Printed this one and it worked without having to scale. Thanks.

I printed the 4 sizes shown in PLA. Here are my thoughts. 50%- too small to be useful. definitely hard to wind with fingers. note that the "clicky" party of the print was much too fragile at this size and immediately broke off when removing from the warm bed. 75%- this is shown holding a cord for a baby monitor (appx 6', but thin). It is a great size for this cord, but it's a bit uncomfortable for me to wind with my fingers because the slots where you grip the reel is tiny. 100%- shown holding a 6 foot cord 5-6mm diameter. great size and easy winding. 150%- too big for normal 6 foot cords. turns out it works great for 12 foot light duty extension cords! (not pictured) gift card for size reference fantastic design!

Perfect! It would be even better if it could be printed in parts, allowing for customized colors

Thank you very much for your kind words and support! Multi-color printing of the AMS parts is achievable, and I will upload the print profiles shortly. Thank you for your suggestion!

if you click print and go to 'parts to print 7/7' click that and it will give you options to take out pieces that way you can print one color and then go back and print the other pieces the other color.

I’ve printed about five different models so far and this one is my favorite because of the clicking resistance. finally a cable organizer that doesn’t unwind as soon as you let go of it. thanks for awesome design. now we need a holder for multiple winders to sit it.

Will this model work with PLA or do you have to use PETG? Also, does it require supports?

Were you able to print without support?

Yes, it worked without supports. However, unless you have the right length of cable, the open design leaves the connectors loose and easily unraveled. Also, it's not as compact as I thought it would be. The clicky design is fun if you're into fidgety things. I've printed about 5 to 6 different kinds of cable winders. Here's a comparison of some.
