This is a replacement knob for the AP Valves DSMB cylinder knob. The original is quite small and is sometimes difficult to turn when your hands are cold and you're wearing thick gloves.
The print profile has default infill which means there are some air pockets inside the knob and it will be very slightly positively buoyant. I've tested it down to 35m deep at the bottom of dank, dark, horrible Stoney Cove. If you wish to dive to extreme depths then you might want to make the infill 100%.
In addition to the print you need a 20mm square x 3mm deep square nut to engage on the valve spindle which has a square section at this point. Typically this can be made of aluminium strip cut to length. In the centre of the face you need to drill a hole and use a small square section file to make a square hole to fit the valve stem.
The profile has a pause so that printing stops at a specific layer. At this point you place the square aluminium part into the hole in the print and then continue the print. This embeds the washer into the knob. It would be possible to make the part without requiring this washer but the valve spindle could easily rip the plastic if it was reluctant to open.
Probably suitable for fitting to cylinder valves with the same knob dimensions.
Do get in touch if you have any ideas for changes or variations to the models.
I can also create Fusion 360 models that will become your property.
