Description

----2025.6.7 Optimised the profiles of Part1 - Part4, removed all error messages, adjusted the layout and brim for some parts based on recent feedback, improved print quality and success rate.

----2025.5.5 Wall Mount of Frostmourne released.

----2025.5.1 Quick fix of Part5_Plate2: The stiffeners have been slightly modified to address tolerance issues with certain filaments.

----2025.4.1 Added Part3_Handle_Multicolor profile, only 3 pieces, ignore the errors, they are nothing.

----2025.2.12 Update 3 print profiles mainly for A1. Thanks to [maxxu@user_3116728879] for providing optimisation suggestions and technical guidance for the A1. Thanks to [Bambulab Test Team] for providing A1 for testing.

Part1_Body&Horn_Glued: Turn 90 degrees, add a little supports, add modifiers to increase the infill of the top tenon, reduce the possibility of damage due to insertion and removal. This profile is suitable for X1 and P1 with a glued plate.

Part1_Body&Horn_Non-Glued: New profile, add a lot of supports to increase stability, no need to glue on the plate, about 90 minutes more printing time than the glued version, very safe. This profile is suitable for all printers except A1mini with a non-glued plate, especially for A1.

Part2_HandleA: Skulls and connectors changed to variable layer height to reduce surface layer pattern; Added brim to skulls to reduce the risk of print failure when using A1 with a non-glued plate.

Part3_HandleB: Rotate the long handle 90 degrees, now the opening towards the Y-axis, add new supports at the bottom to enhance stability. Improves stability when printing with A1.

*The GIF shows the test results of the new profile of the body for A1 with a non-glued plate.

Thanks to those who offered help and those who failed to print but still didn't give up, the final victory often lies in the effort to hold on a little longer, as long as you don't give up, I won't give up.

The Lich King's weapon in World of Warcraft, Frostmourne. The base is here: The base of Frostmourne (Height 62cm)

  • Whole new design for FDM printing blending the two looks from Warcraft 3 and World of Warcraft.
  • The overall length is about 108cm, not compatible with A1mini.
  • Since the original model is extremely detailed, making it too large (2.2g) to upload. So only the 3mf format file has been uploaded, if you need the original stl, you can export it from the 3mfs.
  • The 3mf files are divided into 5 parts, it is recommended to print in the order of Part1 to Part5.

About Print Profile:

  • *Hey man, this is Frostmourne, it's worth to pre-apply glue to the print plate (BambuLab Glue, 3DLAC, LDLAC are all fine).
  • All parts are pre-supported and ready to print. It is highly recommended to use PLA to print Part1-Part4, as there is so much detail and some of the bevels are large, in my tests only PLA shrinkage and warpage were low enough to print successfully and with good results.
  • Plate 1 of Part 1, is the most difficult piece, but as long as the plate is glued, the success rate is 100%, so feel free to relax. It is recommended to print it first, after that, the rest is easy.
  • Part4 is the blade with two support options, the default support and the custom support. The difference is that the custom support reduces the vibration that occurs when printing to a certain height and prints faster, but requires post-processing of the cutting points. The default support does not require post-processing, but the vibrations are slightly more noticeable and the printing time is about 1 hour longer. In short: If you are able to manually process the cutting points, choose the custom support, otherwise choose the default support.
  • Part5 is the stiffener, it is recommended to use PETG to add some toughness to the whole sword, but PLA is fine, not much difference.

About Assembly:

  • Please see the attached Assembly Guide for the installation sequence.

  • All slots have been fully optimised and no sanding is required. If you are using it lightly, such as as an ornament, COSPLAY props, no glue is needed, but if you are going to use it heavily, such as a sword fight, chopping foods, chopping trees... or whatever, it is recommended to glue in each slot to ensure firmness.
  • The full sword has unavoidable seams of about 0.3mm-0.5mm at the blade split only, which can be easily filled with putty or 502 + napkins if you are looking for perfection. The sword shown in my photos and video are only colored, no filler seams, intended to present the results of the assembly of the prints as they are.

About Color:

  • Coloring is recommended, the filaments native color is plasticistic (mainly because this is Frostmourne, should get everything buffed).
  • This is my list of colors, just for reference.

This Frostmourne, like the Lich King Helmet, took a huge amount of effort to make and test, so if you managed to own it, please follow me and give me a like, thank you! I have many more interesting designs in the works.
