Description

This is the 20 mm version of this bench dog clamp. For the ¾ in. version: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1063149 or look in my profile.

This bench dog screw clamp can be used anywhere you can drill a 20 mm hole in your workbench or MFT (multifunction table). When used against another bench dog or secured fence (see pictures), you can secure pieces flat on your workbench either on edge or on face for fine joinery work or dimensioning with planes, chisels, and saws.  The clamp head can also be used against a 45-degree corner to secure triangular pieces on your workbench.

The bench dog clamp is printed in parts and some assembly is required as follows:

  1. Secure the clamp head to the end of the thread with the split head. Lay the head on a flat surface with the hole facing up, and drive the split head in - it may take some force! Rotate the clamp head forcefully a few times to loosen it up (a drop of 3-in-1 oil also helps a lot).
  2. Screw the thread into the clamp body with the flat face facing the clamp head

  3. Secure the clamp handle in the hole in the thread, press fit both end caps.
  4. Done!

Recommend printing in PETG and print at slower speeds for best results (I chose 50% or silent).

Some further tips for usage:

  • A drop of 3-in-1 oil in the thread body and the clamp head joint makes operation of the clamp smoother.
  • Don't overcrank the clamp thread. The clamping force is significant and can damage the clamp handle or cause the clamp head to become offset.
