Description

In addition to the my add-ons for “Marble Run 003”, I have constructed a completely new marble run. The tower of this model has 5 entrances and exits and the lift can transport 3 marbles at the same time. It has spinning tracks, as well as loop, jump, funnel, semi-automatic branch, paddle wheel and a drawer for the marbles. There is a turntable on the tower on which you can glue a figure. I have used a hydra, for example. However, the hydra is not included in the print profile. I hope you like it and that it offers you some variety, even if some parts might look familiar.

This model can either be operated with the motor from the Marble Run Component Kit 003 https://eu.store.bambulab.com/en-ch/products/marble-run-components-kit-003 only, or as an option with mentioned motor together with battery, USB-C charging module and speed controller for the elevator. The speed controller should be set high enough so that the mumels do not get stuck at the tower exit. You will find more information in the assembly instructions.

UPDATE: When using more than 15 marbles, the marbles may collide and fly off the track. That's why I added the Tower Marble Run v9 version as an additional print profile. The version v9 has higher walls and reduces the risk of the marbles flying off the track after a collision.

Good to know:

  1. If you are an opponent of support structures, do not download this model, because you will need a lot of it.
  2. Be careful when removing the support structures and take care not to tear off the model supports. The use of the Print Profile is recommended. The configuration settings (esp. supports, print speed and orientation) have been tested. Of course, you can change all settings if you think it’s better. I welcome any suggestion for improvement.
  3. I’ve used PLA Matte on Bambu Lab Cool Plate with liquid glue and had neither adhesion nor warping nor other problems. I also mention this because depending on which filament you use the parts may not quite fit together.
  4. The print profile is not suitable to be used with the A1 Mini. Nevertheless, you can split the parts in BBL Studio, add connectors and join them together, but don't hold me responsible if the construction falls apart.
  5. I’ve tested with 14mm marbles from the Marble Run Components Kit 003. I don't know whether smaller marbles work. “Homemade” 14mm marbles will work if they are the same weight.
  6. If you are not familiar with soldering, just use the motor without the options. However, I personally find it good to carry out such work.
  7. I tried to make the assembly instructions as clear as possible. Please let me know if something is not clear.
  8. I’ve spent a lot of time on building this model, and I’m quite satisfied with the result. However, I can't say whether it will work for all of you, as you may be using different filaments or marbles. There is certainly room for improvement and I'm therefore looking forward to your suggestions and feedback.

Note:

  • This addon contains small parts. Please make sure that children cannot swallow them.

I am currently printing the track and to my disappointment, I have to find that the dragon(?) on top of the tower is not included in the files, which I would have liked to have… :D

You mean the multi-headed serpent. Well, sorry, the description states: “ There is a turntable on the tower on which you can glue a figure. I have used a hydra, for example. However, the hydra is not included in the print profile.“

Oh, I overlooked that, sorry! No worries, I'm sure I'll find something nice for the spire :D Great set so far, even though I had a problem with the tower itself. I don't know what caused it—filament, printer, or something else. The model looks fine in the slicer, so that can't be it. I immediately printed the auger afterwards to see if there were any functional problems, but everything seems to be working fine. Optically, it bothers me, though, but since it only happened after 25 of 26 hours of printing, I'll leave it as is for now.

Oh dear! It seems the print head had a hiccup. I don't think it's the filament; more likely a printer vibration. What does the inside of the tower look like? If there's a similar offset there, it could cause problems if the spiral attempts to lift three marbles simultaneously, i.e. at the same height. There's a little space, but a blockage can't be ruled out

Awesome design, easily assembled and very good instructions! From zero to hero in a couple days! Even sharing a battery operated design which is a very nice touch! Very happy of all the prints and also the higher walls version so that marbles doesn't fall when crowded! A1 model! Thanks!

Excellent print, as described, it requires a considerable amount of support However, this doesn't bother me, and it's known beforehand The track functions superbly; occasionally, a marble might fly off the track after a loop, and a few marbles tend to get stuck in the funnel However, as soon as more follow, these are also carried along Many thanks for this delightful marble run 👌
