Description

I designed this to allow for use of an 18650 with the Chipolo ONE point.

The reason for doing this is to essentially make this a lifetime battery for the device, i use these in my cars, RV, Tool Boxes and other large items.

A CR2032 which is normally about 225mah lasts at least 6 months, while my 18650 i stripped from laptops, is almost 3000mAh, well over 10x the lifespan, I anticipate that the tech will be obsolete by the time this battery is discharged.

I dont know what the official voltage range is for the Chipolo, but this works, and the app says my battery is OK, didn't burn out the Chipolo, so I'm going to run it. Use at your own risk. (note this also abandons the speaker so the sound cant be triggered allowing it to be found.)

Assembly is basically opening the chipolo and removing the board, check youtube for videos on that, search for speaker disable. Then place the board inside the cap of the print with the battery contacts pointing toward the battery, the + will connect when you properly orient the cap, the - will require a wire or (as i used) a nickle strip to connect it, see photos. The cap friction fits quite well, but to ensure it doesn't slide out, and to secure the whole thing, i left slots for 6mm wide zipties.

Also the lid is intentionally thin enough to allow you to still operate the button.
