Description
2026/01/06 - New Backplate and Stand!
- Added a new V2 version of the backpate and stand, which can be used instead of the originals
- Why? The new stand has threads to keep it on the backplate and can still be positioned in either portrait and landscape
- Just twist from the opposite side! If you're familiar with my Lithophane Frames for the 3-Size Backlight Board Kit, this one is exactly the same
- Still has support for both Bambu and 3rd Party backplates, but keep in mid that some 3rd party boards already match Bambu's usb-c dimensions, so it's best to measure the distance from the usb port to the edge, around 3.9mm for Bambu style backplate, and around 1.8mm for others
- As a reminder: the new backplate and stand are not in the main profile, you need to download the new profile and replace in the original profie, or just print from the new one. It's not a full replacement, just another option
Here's a GIF showing the motion:

2025/11/14 - New Frame Patterns!
I'm happy to announce an update to my Lithophane Frame with new Frame Patterns!
You can choose from 10 geometric patterns, ranging from vertical ribs, waves, knurling, and even a puzzle pattern!
Everything from the other profiles is compatible, just swap the frame :D
There's also a minor update to the lightbox, which doesn't impact the compatibility. I changed the interlocking between the lightbox and diffuser, so it has a stronger bond when printing the AMS version

2025/05/11
- Many thanks to @korp for providing a remix to the backplate for use with third party boards, specifically from AliExpress, that seem to have a different distance from the usb-c port to the border (3.9mm original to 1.8 AliExpress)
- As a result, I added a new profile with a new backplate with a closer hole to the AliExpress ones. This means each of the backplates uploaded by me are only compatible with their respective boards. Korp's profile will still be available as usual.
- Added 2 new stands with larger angles. The original is 15º, and the new ones are 20º and 25º. Keep in mind that depending on the usb cable used, the steeper angles might make it touch the surface the frame is on.
2025/02/25
- Added a no-AMS version of the Lightbox, so now the whole frame can be printed in single color printers!
-------- End updates ----------
Looking for Lithophane Frames for the 3-Size Backlight Board Kit? ← Here!
Here's my design of a lithophane frame, with a more modern and clean design, since the majority of designs available are either remixes of Bambu's version or simple ones with little regard to aesthetics. No extra hardware! Well, besides the LED board :D
It's made for Bambu's Lithophane LED Backlight and Make My Lithophane (140x104 lithophanes, or 144x108 with the 2mm border), just select the "Litho with Fixed Frame" (color or mono). You can use both black&white (3.2mm) and color (2.5mm) lithophanes with the included spacer. The spacer is only mandatory for the color lithophanes.
This design features:
- A Frame that serves as the main focus. Print in any color you want.
- The Lightbox, which is a case for the LED board and incorporates the diffuser. There's a second version of the Lightbox for non-AMS users to print separately. Print in black to remove any light bleed from light colored frames! Diffuser in white, obviously.
- The Backplate, which serves as the lid for the lightbox, and is visible from the back only. For best results, print in black to avoid light bleed from the back or add a color change from the 3rd layer up (desired color first, then black on the inside).
- The Stand, which can be inserted in the square hole in the backplate, and can be rotated for both portrait and landscape modes. Has a small indentation for cable management.
- A small Spacer for color lithophanes only.
- Very satisfying snaps and clicks!
- Absolutely no supports!
Total print time is around 3h45m and total weight is around 182g (without your lithophane).
Very easy to embed text from Bambu Studio!
Assembly instructions:
- Place the Lightbox on a table or surface, face down
- Insert the LED backlight board
- Insert the Backplate, with the USB cutout aligned with the board
- Close the Lightbox and snap it all around
- Place the Frame on a surface, face down
- Insert the lithophane on the desired orientation
- Required only for color lithophane - insert spacer
- Insert the Lightbox and push until you hear a satisfying click on close
- Insert the Stand in the appropriate orientation
- Connect USB cable
- Enjoy!!
To disassemble, push with some force from the lithophane front while holding the frame sides to unclick open. For the lightbox, pry a corner with a spatula or something similar to leverage and snap it open.
Now for some suggestions:
- Avoid matte filaments as they are softer and the snaps might be weaker, though should work as well
- Use non-basic colors, like Galaxy, Metal or Silk for great aesthetics
- On some of my frames I printed with the bottom surface pattern Hilbert Curve, and it looks great with the PEI sheet!
