Description

This is a remodel of my Avid CNC Dust shoe that has been modified to work with an 80mm spindle. The skirt is in two parts so you can remove the front half to do a bit change without having to remove the full skirt. I chose to use Magport dust adapters for the hose to make it easy to vacuum any left over dust, but you can attach the dust hose directly or use a similar product.

I recommend printing one copy of the main body and then 2 copies of the left/right skirt. I have one skirt with 3" bristles in it and one with 2" bristles and will just swap them as needed depending on depth of cut and length of the bit. I probably over estimated the number of magnets required but I can guarantee that it doesn't detach during operation.

This is printed using the 0.20mm strength profile with 4 walls and 25% infill. I've set support with a 10% threshold angle to make sure no support is printed inside the ring where the 4" dust hose clamp slides into. There is a gap between the lower section of the main body and the clamping section to allow for compression around the spindle which does need support.

I used and verified the following items for assembly. If you source different brushes or magnets you may need to modify the model to suit.

4" dust collector worm drive clamp
40@ 10mm x 4mm magnets - Get an extra 20 for the second skirt if you want 2" and 3" skirts
2" and 3" dust brushes - McMaster-Carr PN# 7900T5 & 7900T2 - each side of the dust skirt uses just under 1' of brush
