Description

A simple and elegant raindrop shaped birdhouse. Very easy print requiring no supports. Snap together fittings for easy assembly. Prints great in PLA and PETG.  Mix and match your own colors to fit your backyard or garden. I have also uploaded a wood grain texture faceplate if you would like to print the front with wood/brown filament.

Update 5/11/25 - Added a stone texture faceplate.

I edited the model to make it into a bug hotel. I can post the print profile if someone wants it. I used items I found around my area. some Gumtree balls, rolled bark. card board. some cardboard tubes from doggie poopbags. a pine cone and few pieces of a broken brick. I added a grid shape inside the model to hold these and extra holes so I can tie it to a tree. I used a gradient pla (amolen) that I think looks pretty good. let me know if anyone wants the print profile.

Printed perfectly. Scaled it up a bit to contain a Ubiquiti G5 Bullet camera mounted on a tree near my driveway. Avacado is watching you…

What would be your recommendation for the brown PLA used here?

Somehow, I’ve missed birdhouse prints all this time! Prints fast for what they are, easy to assemble and disassemble for cleaning. I live down south and it gets hot, added vents to all the designs for better airflow and heat dissipation. Friends and family love these, have printed a lot of them and given them away. Added a second mounting hole (see pics), more secure mounting when windy/ stormy. The raindrop, circle and traditional looking birdhouse designs from this designer are my favorite.

nice build, I added the fuzzy skin which made it look nice. wood grain front panel also looks good. although the front panel is slightly small. if I do another one I would make this panel slightly larger.

Very nice colors. I have adjusted the faceplate file by 0.5% and its a much tighter fit now.

Thank you! I have not used any of the Amolen filaments, looks like I will have to try some.

Just a few very colorful combos. Currently hanging on wall until I finish the pol mounts I created for these (1-1/2" diameter pole). Images to follow of them installed.

They do have the eastery feel don't they. Here is a few photos of the mount. I would upload it but it printed like a raging dumpster fire (should have put some custom supports to brace it right before the part where it widens). If I print another, I will make sure to fix & then upload the profile. It's an M2 machine screw. Likely to use a nut but might be tight enough to just screw in. bottom "hook" fits perfectly into the drainage hole.

The print profile is no longer public
.28mm layer, PETG, fuzzy contour for side walls, remixed the wood textured face to add an awning for weather protection and added a permanent perch - both of which I added fuzzy skin contour to match side walls. Gonna be some happy campers this weekend!

Excellent colors. Is it wood stain on the faceplate?

it’s just brown acrylic paint that I put on and wiped off.

I like this birdhouse a lot. So do the birds. We also painted the outside of it to add a nice pattern.
