Description

Metabo 18V Battery Adapter with Battery Box

This design is a 3D-printable Metabo 18V battery adapter, complete with a battery box that can be mounted inside a larger enclosure. The adapter and box are specifically designed for use in projects such as DIY speakers but can also be adapted for other purposes.

 

Its based on a YouTube Video so watch before building:

Features:

  • Battery Adapter: Securely connects to a Metabo 18V battery and provides mounting capabilities. Compared to similar models available on AliExpress, this adapter places the clips for releasing the battery on the front instead of the back, making it more accessible in certain configurations.
  • Battery Box: Encloses the battery, protecting it while allowing easy mounting in your project.

Required Materials:

  1. Screws:
    • 2x M3 12mm screws for assembling the adapter
    • If mounting the adapter, you will need 5x M3 threaded inserts and 5x M3 12mm screws
    • 4x M3 6mm screws for XH-M609 mounting
  2. Compression Springs:
    • 2x 9.5x16mm compression springs for the arms that snap onto the battery
  3. Metal Plates:
    • To connect to the battery poles, use metal plates from a model available on AliExpress
    • Alternatively, you can create your own custom metal plates
  4. Electronics:
    • An XH-M609 module can be mounted on the back of the battery box for protection against deep discharge (RECOMMENDED)

Printing Recommendations:

  • Adapter Base:
    • Print in PLA with PETG  support interfacelayer to achieve a smooth and professional finish on critical surfaces (Already configured in the print profile)
  • Battery Box:
    • Can be printed without support

Assembly Instructions:

  1. Print all required components
  2. Use the 2x M3 12mm screws to mount the arms to the base
  3. Tension them with the 2x 9.5x16mm compression springs
  4. Secure the metal plates to the back of the adapter
  5. If mounting the adapter in a fixed position, insert 5 M3 threaded inserts into the designated holes and secure with 5 M3 12mm screws
  6. Glue the pins for the XH-M609 into the holes in the back.
  7. The XH-M609 module can be mounted on those pins with 4x 6mm M3 Screws

This battery adapter and box offer a versatile and durable solution for integrating Metabo 18V batteries into custom projects, with user-friendly assembly and material options to suit various applications.
