Description

These are reels for use with 1" paper tape, either on readers or punches with ½" spindles, or for tape storage.

They can be used as-is with tape anchored by folding over the end and pushing in to a hub slot, or standard 2" tape rolls or cores can be used on the hubs.

They are intended to conform to the ISO 3692 reel dimensions, so should be compatible with equipment intended for this reel style.

For each reel, two hub halves and two sides are required. Print either the 153mm (6") sides or 216mm (8.5") sides as appropriate.

The hub halves are made so they can be assembled using either glue and 3mm x 16mm or 20mm dowel pins in the blind holes, or M4 countersunk screws. For dowels, clean the holes to 3mm. For screws, open the through holes to 4mm in one half and 3.5mm in the other half, and use M4 x 25 screws from the 4mm side.

Ensure the narrow slots for the tape end are in line before gluing or screwing the hub halves together!

The reel sides simply twist-lock on or off the hub.

Edit - note: The hubs are a very tight fit on one tape reader I tried these on; the one original spool had a 13mm hole. If they are too tight to fit or remove easily, run a 13mm drill through the hub.
