I’ve put a lot of time and effort into designing this lock from scratch. If you are able, I’d really appreciate a boost to help it reach more makers. Thank you!
Description:
When I set out to find a fully 3D-printable tumbler lock for learning purposes, I realized there wasn’t anything quite like what I had in mind. So, I decided to design one myself! This lock is a functional 6-pin tumbler lock that requires a key to open, just like a real padlock. It’s been carefully optimized to work well with 3D printing, making it both an educational tool, functional, and a fun project.
PLEASE USE THE LOCK ASSEMBLY GUIDE BELOW!!!
Key Features:
- No Extra Hardware Required: This padlock is entirely 3D printed. No screws, springs, glue, or additional parts needed
- Compact Design: Lightweight yet robust enough for light-duty applications
- Fully Tested: The locking mechanism has been refined to ensure reliable operation
For best results, use a smooth PEI plate.
If you print this successfully or you have any questions, please leave a comment or pictures. I will get back with you as soon as possible! Also, feel free to make changes to any of the models and post them as remixes or make new print profiles!
The lock will not open if the pins are not installed correctly. If this happens, you now have the opportunity to learn how to pick a lock! :)
I have linked a set of 3D printable lock picks that work decently well on this model. I recommend using a rake method.
