Description

At times, the magnet location is just too deep in the 3D print, or magnet flips when installing, or the hole is slightly too small to provide easy installation. I have a solution for you.  I very much appreciate the style of Brian Dean’s “Embedded Magnet Dispenser Tool for 3D Prints” but using them often resulting in CA glue adhering the magnets to inside of the dispenser.

The Magnet Presser with Stand was designed to facilitate installation, especially in deep and slight undersize recesses.  Often a tap with a craft hammer is all that is needed to fully seat the magnet.

Construction

We are all aware walls are stronger than infills, so I designed each Magnet Presser with a hollow core. This effectively increase the core strength by providing Bambu Studio the ability to create additional walls inside of the Magnet Presser thereby, increasing the compression strength.

The Magnet Pressers were printed using PTEG filament for strength.

The Magnet Pressers support 5x3mm, 8x3mm, and 10x3mm magnets.  If using magnets of 5mm and smaller, use the 5 Magnet Presser, and using magnets from 6mm to 8mm in diameter, use the 8 Magnet Presser, and so on.

Materials

The following are needed:

2 – 5x3mm magnets

2 – 8x3mm magnets

2 – 10x3mm magnets

1 – Magnetic Pole Detector (helpful, not required)

Great addition to my kit! I was going to print all of the sizes but realized I could just use the 10mm for everything I need them for. Print profile is perfect. Printed in Bambu PLA basic. Thank you!

I have a depth of 2.55mm in the cup for the magnet, when trying to install a magnet there doesn't seem to allow enough of the magnet to be seated using this tool since the magnet is only 3.0mm thick. I printed both of the size 8's hoping there was a difference but I haven't seen any. Great print though

Hi, the magnets are meant to stand "proud" of the presser, meaning they are not intended to be below the presser housing. When using, for example, an #8 presser on a 3D-printed piece that requires a 6mm magnet, this prevents the magnet from being pressed below the printed surface, which could cause a minor loss of magnetic field between the upper and lower magnets.

Thank You, it was my first time with using an installer so my ignorance was front and center.

I really like this design, except that it looks like these load one magnet at a time. Is that accurate?

Yes. You are correct. The issue I had with magnet dispenser is CA glue. If I used a little too much, it would fing it's way up the magnets at glue them to the inside of the dispenser. Additionally, if the hole was slightly undersized, a few taps with a hobby hammer placed them very nicely.
