Customizeable Multimeter Probe Tweezers
Print Profile(1)

Description
What do I need this for?
This is a parametric model of a pair of tweezers to attach you multimeter probes to.
It helps to use them with one hand when measuring things like SMD's or other electrical compoents.
Shoutout
I was inspired by Navodile, so please check out their work*!
Why would I use this model
There are many other models available that serve a similar purpose, but now the search for the right diameter and style (to some extent) is over!
I’ve parametrized as much as possible to keep the model manageable while still offering a decent amount of customization.
Parameter explanation:
The parameters are briefly explained in the editor, but I’ll cover them here in more detail. I’ve highlighted the really important ones if you just want to make quick adjustments:
probes_diameter: This is the base diameter of your probes in millimeters.
probes_tolerance: This parameter adjusts the tolerance. It should be at least 1 mm, but I recommend 2 mm. Alternatively, you can increase the diameter since the tolerance and diameter are added together later in the program.
length: This is the base length of the tweezers. They won't be exactly this length, but this parameter provides precise control if you want to change it. Measured in millimeters.
tweezer_angle: This parameter describes half of the opening angle. For example, to make the tweezers open to 10°, set this parameter to 5. Increase this value if the tweezers don’t open enough for your needs.
attachment_angle: This parameter adjusts the angle of your multimeter prongs relative to the tweezers. Decrease this value to bring the prongs closer together when the tweezers are closed, or increase it to spread them farther apart.
attachment_base_length: This is the length of the ‘holders.’ It’s mostly cosmetic but could be useful if your prongs are shaped more complexly and require longer or shorter attachments.
removal_angle: This parameter controls the infill of the holders. If you set this angle greater than or equal to the attachment_angle, there will be no gap at the tip. This uses more material but doesn’t change the functionality.
tweezer_base_displacement: This parameter adjusts the distance between the tweezers at the base (where they are connected). Use this with caution, as it can completely alter the model—but it’s fun to experiment with!
- opening_multiplier: This controls the size of the gap where you insert the prongs. By default, it minimizes overhangs for easier printing. Decreasing this value will close the gap at the end of the probe holders, and setting it to 0 will fully surround the probes.
I hope this helps to clarify things! If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment, and I’ll explain further (and update this description as needed).
*I decided that this does not count as a remix, as I was only inspired and created my own parametric model (with unique design and model dimensions) using SCAD from scratch. I hope you all agree :)
