The Aircraft

F9F Panther

Overview:
The Grumman F9F Panther was one of the Navy's first jet-powered fighters, known for its service during the Korean War.

Development History:
First flown in 1947, the F9F featured straight wings and a rugged design tailored for carrier operations. It was powered by a Pratt & Whitney J42 engine.

Historical Significance:
The Panther became the Navy’s primary jet fighter during the Korean War, excelling in ground-attack missions.
