Description
This is a weighted charging stand for your Sony WH-1000XM5 / WH-1000XM4 / WH-1000XM3.
Add a magnetic USB-C charging adapter(info below) and anything to weight it down.
I designed this stand to be the ideal charging stand for my XM4s. I use my XM4s at my desk everyday and regularly put them on and off. Needed somewhere to put them down and easily charge them if I wanted to.
The back should fit most any USB-C cords including the one the headphones come with.
Design Goals
Set the headphones down quickly, knowing that they are secure and won't fall over while not needing to think about it too much
Low profile and not get in the way when headphones are not on the stand
Charge the headphones without needing to think about it
Option to not charge the headphones 100% of the time (can unplug the cable from back to not have it charge)
No soldering and use off the shelf parts
EXTRA PARTS NEEDED:
- Magnetic USB C Adapter:
- The stand only fits with this style of Magnetic USB C Adapter but it doesn't need to be this exact “brand”. It appears this is a generic adapter the is branded by many different companies. I have found that if it looks exactly the same and is the same 5 Pin version it will work.

- Optional but recommend - Flat Head Screws M3 x 10mm Long: (can be shorter)
- Everything snaps in pretty tight but could come loose so screwing or glue it is best especially if you are adding weights
- I designed this around this specific screw from McMaster-Carr but any normal machine screw thread or wood screw thread should work.
- M3 x 10mm Flat Head Thread-Forming Screws for Plastic https://www.mcmaster.com/90485A442/
- Or Machine Screw M3 x 8mm Flat Head Screws from Maker's Supplies also work
- Optional - Weights:
- Anything will work. I found ball bearings as a cheap and effective way of add weight to anything of any shape.
- Cheaper from Amazon ASIN B07CHY6KQW https://www.amazon.com/PGN-0-375-Precision-Chrome-Bearing/dp/B07CHY6KQW?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1
- Or 10mm (or other diameter) Steel Balls from Maker's Supplies work too but you need about 80-100
- Anything will work. I found ball bearings as a cheap and effective way of add weight to anything of any shape.
- Optional Rubber bumpers as feet or Foam Tape from Maker's Supplies
OR - No Screw Option - Rather than using Screws and the bumpers for feet is you can just use Foam Tape. Link below for Maker's Supply version of it but anything similar would work.
Printing Tips:
- Needs supports for first base step only. See printing profile.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS:
Straight forward but here are some steps. Message me if you are have any trouble.
- Install USB-C Adapter into stand
- Insert the USB-C Holder FIRST by putting in the end without the screw hole THEN push down on the side with the screw hole
- Screw in or glue the USB-C Holder down
- Add optional weights (whatever you want it to be)
- Put on the Cover and secure with 2x M3 Flat head screws (glue can work to)
There are hidden holes in the stepped part of at the base of the stand that will make it easier to screw into the sand
