A Dishwasher Adventure in 3D Printing
When my wife lost the screw from the lower spray arm of our Electrolux dishwasher, we discovered a frustrating truth: the screw wasn’t available as a replacement part - you had to buy the entire arm instead. Determined to find a solution, I decided to create a 3D model of the screw to serve as a replacement.
This mission also gave me an excuse to buy my first 3D printer, and after some tinkering, I successfully printed the screw. It fits perfectly! My first attempt was made with PLA, but it didn’t withstand the harsh conditions of the dishwasher.
I then printed the screw using PLA+ from eSUN, and to my surprise, it has been holding strong for nearly a year now. However, the ideal material would be PETG with 100% infill, ensuring maximum durability and heat resistance.
Thanks to 3D printing, I fixed our dishwasher and embarked on an exciting new hobby.
