Manfrotto 500PLONG Quick-Release Plate

This project includes three versions of the 3D-printed Manfrotto 500PLONG quick-release plate, designed for use with Manfrotto video tripod heads. These models are compatible with the 500PL system and offer options for different printer capabilities and material preferences. Ideal for photographers and videographers seeking a customizable and affordable alternative to the original plate.

The model features a sliding screw slot for precise camera positioning, anti-slip surface zones for stability, and dimensions that closely mimic the original. It is suitable for use with lightweight to moderately heavy camera setups.

Versions:

Integrated Pads Model:

Features soft pads directly implemented into the design, printed with TPU (40D or softer).

Designed for users with multi-material printers or those comfortable switching materials during printing.

Insert Pads Model:

Designed to be printed in two parts:

Main Body: Printed from PLA, PETG, ABS, or ASA.

Pads: Two separate pieces printed from TPU (40D or softer).

Includes slight offset slots to insert the TPU pads after printing using glue.

No Pads Model:

Simplest design with no integrated pads.

Can be printed entirely from a single material.

Suitable for all printers and materials.

Print Settings:

Material:

• Integrated Pads: PLA (main body) or any other (PETG, ASA, ABS) + TPU (pads).
• Insert Pads: PLA, PETG, ABS, or ASA (main body) + TPU (pads).
• No Pads: Any material (PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA).

Layer Height: 0.2 mm.

Infill: 30% (rectilinear or gyroid recommended).

Wall Thickness (Perimeters): 4 perimeters for strength and durability.

Supports: Must be printed with support - this face is not visible so it is not problem.

Assembly Instructions:

Mounting Screw: Insert a 1/4"-20 camera screw (for example), there is thread in plate for inserting, to secure your camera to the plate. This can be purchased separately or reused from an existing plate.

Pads (if applicable):

Integrated Pads Model: TPU pads are printed directly.

Insert Pads Model: Place TPU pads into the offset slots after printing use super glue or other 3D printing glue.

Test Fit: Before attaching any valuable equipment, test the plate’s fit on your tripod head to ensure proper alignment and locking.

Always test the plate’s strength and locking ability before mounting expensive camera equipment.
