Daily Contact Lens Storage Boxes
Print Profile(1)

Description
My daily contact lenses used to come in 30-day cardboard boxes that fit perfectly in my bathroom drawers. A while back, they switched from those perfect cardboard boxes to enormous 90-day boxes--boxes that no longer fit in my drawer. Fortunately, just before my hoarded supply of old boxes ran out, I found Shilko's Parametric Box model and was able to save myself from an endlessly annoying future of loose contact lenses in my bathroom.
This remix contains two box bottoms and two lids, each sized to fit 30 daily disposable lenses. Both boxes can be printed together on one plate. I've tested this with Acuvue Oasys lenses, but other similarly-sized brands should fit as well. The boxes are labeled with an L and an R, so you can keep your lenses organized. These boxes work so well that I've printed another one to use as a travel organizer for my lenses, when I don't need to bring a whole month's supply!
Assembly
- Place the lid on the box in the closed position, lining up the hole in the middle of all of the hinges.
- Cut a piece of spare filament just a bit shorter than the full length of the hinges.
- Slide the filament piece through the hinge hole, sliding it all the way through the length of the hinge.
- Use a paper clip or similar small item to push the filament all the way in, if necessary.
- Open and close the box a few times to loosen the hinge--In my experience, it will feel really hard to open the first time (like you might break it!), but after that it works perfectly.
