Paul Knapp Head Sculpt

Here is a head sculpt for a custom action figure of Paul Knapp.

One of the show's running gags is that guests and panelists would paste a picture of Paul on an action figure. To take it up a notch, I used the Statue Maker in the Maker Lab Experiments to convert a picture of Paul into a statue, then edited the statue to be a mountable head.

The head is simple enough to print and can be put on an easy-to-find and inexpensive body from a GI Joe, Action Man, or Star Wars action figure made during the late '90s through 2010.  If you are a guest of the show, please download and print this out to show off on the show!

I recommend putting the flat part at the base of the neck on the build plate, and supporting the ears and nose only on the outside (let the software do what it wants inside). If you used a rigid material, the head will go on but will not come off. Most flexible materials will be removable.

I have included the output of the statue maker as one of the files. The height, width, and depth all needed to be adjusted, and some stray bits smoothed over. I recommend using a 3D sculpting program like Blender to post-process the model before hollowing it out and adding connections. I have made three head sculpts starting from the Make My Statue feature, and it saves a lot of time compared to starting from scratch.
