Heavy-duty GoPro speargun camera mount

This is a heavy-duty GoPro mount for speargun. The idea was to make a front (close to speargun head) mount to get it as close as possible to fish. It is suitable for all GoPro cameras.

The mount is optimized for round Pathos aluminum barrel with an outer diameter of 30mm. This is the most common diameter, but if you would like to use it with a different barrel size just let me know which one do you need.

I designed it to be mounted close to the speargun head and it has a cutout for the screw connecting the head to the barrel. This will to stop mount from rotating. However, the mount cutout diameter is a bit smaller (29.3mm) than barrel’s one and it is very unlikely that it will rotate if you will shift it closer to handle and tighten screws properly.

There is one important consideration – you will need to rig your speargun in such a way that nylon and reel line (if you use one) are all on the side of your line release mechanism to avoid line tangling with a camera. See photos for details and try rigging at home first.

I suggest printing in PETG, ABS or ASA. The geometry is optimized for ABS, without steep overhangs to avoid warping. I printed it in ABS, 6 walls, 80% infill, 0.2 mm layer height, 0.4 mm wall width, and the final product is rock solid. So, I guess you can print fewer walls/infill (e.g. 4 walls/50% infill). The only place you need supports is camera connection.

You will need 2x 35mm and 1x 25mm stainless steel M4 screws and 3x M4 nyloc nuts. Do not forget to flip video orientation in GoPro menu.

I could have adjusted my settings more by using wide angle and pointing the camera more upright to see the spear. So, play with it before you’ll go for a big game :).
