Description

My wife asked me to design a set of pattern weights to make her sewing work easier when cutting fabric with rotary cutters.

Using weights removes the need to pin the pattern to the fabric or rely on temporary adhesive, which makes the whole process faster and much cleaner.

I designed the models in TinkerCAD.

To give each weight some real substance, I filled them with Umbrex 4.5 mm stainless steel BBs (0.36 g each), adding up to roughly 80 g per weight. They were by far the easiest and most cost‑effective option I could get my hands on, and they balance the models beautifully.

The print includes a pause at layer 69 so you can pour in the BBs. Just be careful not to overfill them – the nozzle will push the balls back out, and trust me, you don’t want a stainless steel BB bouncing its way into your auxiliary cooling fan.

These were printed using Sunlu Silk PLA+ Black/Purple for the bodies and Bambu Lab Silk PLA Gold for the initials and logos.

If you find the model useful, please consider giving it a boost.
