Boost Me (for free)
I put hours into this design so you don't have to. No sponsors (sadly), no shortcuts, just a maker trying to keep my hobby alive. A boost = a big smile (and maybe a coffee).
This parametric wall panel begins as a solid cuboid and subtracts a carved relief from it, producing a modern decorative surface with either mountain-like bands or wave-like flow. It is built to be printable, adjustable, and visually rich without becoming unnecessarily chaotic — a rare and noble achievement in procedural geometry.
There is also a separate slicing parametric model designed by me that can be used to cut this panel into a more modern layered form: Parametric Panel Maker.
The two designs complement each other nicely, but combining both into one file makes the setup more complex and less versatile. Keeping them separate makes them easier to control, easier to adapt, and much less likely to start behaving like abstract architecture.
How to use it
- Set the overall panel size first: width, length, and thickness.
- Choose the relief height and base thickness to control how deep the carving goes.
- Adjust the seed to generate a different pattern.
- Pick either Mountains or Waves using the pattern dropdown.
- If using waves, choose whether the pattern runs horizontally or vertically.
- Increase mesh detail and mesh grain for smoother results.
- Use variation to push the form toward softer or steeper geometry.
- Use final smoothing to reduce the low-poly feel and make the panel look more refined.
What each parameter does
- panel_width — Width of the panel in millimeters.
- panel_length — Length of the panel in millimeters.
- panel_thickness — Total thickness of the solid slab.
- base_thickness — Minimum amount of material left at the border and lowest relief areas.
- relief_height — Maximum carved height of the surface relief.
- random_seed — Changes the generated pattern without altering the model structure.
- mesh_detail — Controls mesh density and the overall resolution of the generated geometry.
- mesh_grain — Extra fineness multiplier for the mesh.
- safe_border — Flat border around the perimeter to keep edges clean and printable.
- variation — Controls how smooth or steep the relief becomes.
- final_smooth — Adds additional smoothing to reduce harsh transitions.
- pattern_mode — Selects between Mountains and Waves.
- wave_orientation — Chooses the direction of the wave flow.
- cut_gap — Internal safety value that helps prevent geometry overlap.
Notes
The relief is generated by combining seeded variation, warping, and smoothing so the final surface has structure without looking repetitive. The border protection keeps the outer edges flatter, which helps the panel feel intentional and keeps the design practical for fabrication.
