Description

This is a fantastic recreation of the Knucklebones mini-game from Cult of the Lamb. Based on the clever folding design by Maker’s Muse, this model brings the high-stakes, risk-reward dice game into the physical world in a compact, travel-ready format.

🎲 About the Model

This 3D-printable set is designed for portability and mechanical elegance. Taking inspiration from the "print-in-place" hinge system popularized by Maker's Muse, the board folds into a self-contained case that secures the dice inside when not in use.

  • Scale: Optimized for 10mm dice (mini d6), making the entire board roughly the size of a smartphone when folded.
  • Mechanical Design: Uses a dual-axle print-in-place hinge, allowing the board to lay perfectly flat during play and fold flush for storage.
  • Storage: The central "rolling area" doubles as a storage bay for the 17-18 dice required to play.

📜 How to Play: Knucklebones

Knucklebones is a game of simple math and brutal sabotage. Two players compete to have the highest score once one player’s 3x3 grid is full.

The Rules

  1. Placement: On your turn, roll one D6 and place it into any of your three columns.
  2. Scoring (The Multiplier):  Single Die: Face value (e.g., a 4 = 4 points).
    • Matching Dice: If you have multiple dice of the same number in a single column, their sum is multiplied by the count.
      • Example: Two 6s in a column = (6 + 6)* 2 = 24.
      • Example: Three 6s in a column = (6 + 6 + 6) * 3 = 54.
  3. The Attack (Clearing): If you place a die that matches a number in your opponent’s opposite column, all of their dice with that number are removed from that row.

Pro Tip: Filling a column with triples is the fastest way to win, but it makes you a massive target for a single lucky roll from your opponent!

🛠️ Printing & Assembly Tips

  • Layer Height: Use 0.16mm or 0.2mm to ensure the hinges have proper clearance (designed with ~0.5mm tolerance).
  • First Layer: Ensure your bed is well-leveled; a "squished" first layer can weld the print-in-place hinges together.
  • Dice: This specific model is sized for 10mm dice. Standard 16mm dice will be too large for the slots and storage bay.
