Description

Let's Make It: MakerWorld × TRYX

Open-frame Case Design Contest

DESIGNED TO EVOLVE

Structure One

This open‑frame Mini‑ITX case, fully 3D‑printable, is conceived first as a design object rather than just a container for hardware.
Its structure doesn’t simply hold the components — it expresses a clear idea of form, material, and evolution.

At the base of the project there is a stone block, also modeled and 3D‑printed as an integral part of the case.
From this monolithic volume, a clean and essential frame emerges, echoing machined metal and creating a direct contrast between mass and structure, between stillness and function.

Functional Brutalism

The reference to brutalism is not only aesthetic, but conceptual:

- the stone represents solidity, foundation, and origin

- the metal‑like frame evokes technique and precision

- the absence of superfluous elements reinforces the project’s minimalism and essential nature

The result is an object that seems to emerge from the material itself, where the hardware becomes part of the visual narrative rather than something to hide.

Open Frame as a Design Choice

The open‑frame design is a clear statement of intent:

- maximum readability of the components

- full accessibility for upgrades and maintenance

- improved natural airflow

- a technical, clean, and honest aesthetic

Nothing is decorative: every element is visible, understandable, and modifiable

Structure and 3D Printing

- Compatible with Mini‑ITX motherboards

- 100% 3D‑printable, including the stone‑style base

- Modular frame, easy to reprint and adapt

- Designed to be customized in materials, colors, and finishes

🔧 Assembly
For mounting the motherboard, the use of threaded inserts is strongly recommended

to ensure solidity, precision, and long‑term durability.

I D E A . M O D E L I N G . P R I N T I N G .

The entire process is visible, readable, and openly expressed:
from the idea to the modeling, from the printing to the assembly.
This case is the result of a continuous flow, not a closed or finished product
