Capturing "time" in a camera -- My camera-shaped clock
Hello everyone! Today I'm here to share my newly completed 3D printed work: a camera-shaped clock, combining the texture of a vintage camera with a practical clock. It serves as both a desktop ornament and accurately tracks daily time~
Design Concept: Fusion of Vintage and Practicality
I usually love the vintage texture of film cameras, but I also wanted a practical small item for my desk, so I simply combined "camera" and "clock"--
• The main body references the outline of an SLR camera, using a color contrast of red + army green + silver gray, which is both vintage and eye-catching
• The lens position is directly made into a clock dial, with prominent red markings for the scale, and simple black hands were chosen, making it very clear to read the time
• The "dial" and "buttons" on top are decorative details, restoring the mechanical feel of a camera, making the overall design more complete
3D Printing Details: Materials and Craftsmanship
• Materials: The main body uses red PLA filament, the dial uses army green PLA, and the edge decorative ring uses silver gray metallic PLA. The texture contrast of different materials creates a rich layering
• Structure: The entire piece is printed in separate parts and then assembled (main body + lens dial + top accessories). The dial part has reserved space for the clock movement installation, and it is very stable after assembly
• Precision: The gear texture on the lens edge and the details of the top buttons were all printed with a 0.2mm layer height, resulting in good surface smoothness and detail reproduction~
Usage Scenario: The Desktop Vintage "Time Machine"
It is now placed in the corner of my desk, serving as both a decorative ornament and a way to check the time anytime. Friends who visit always ask, "Is this a real camera?" -- The feeling of combining hobbies and practicality is simply wonderful!
