Air Spring
Print Profile(1)

Description
Airsprings represent a solution for 3D printing elastic elements. Unlike coil springs that are difficult to print and often brittle, airsprings use a pneumatic approach that combines the inherent flexibility of TPU with the compressibility of air trapped in the internal volume.
The design is based on fully hollow cylinders with corrugated side walls that create an optimised 'zigzag' profile to facilitate controlled folding of the TPU.
Advantages:
- More sturdy than 3D coil printed springs
- Longer lasting, without risks of warping
- Parametric Customization
Customizable Parameters
Open the OpenSCAD project to customize:
- Height - Total spring dimensions
- Diameters - Maximum and minimum wall expansion
- Number of coils - Controls flexibility and compression range
- End height - Smooth mounting surfaces
- Chamfer transitions - For optimal stress distribution
This is v 1.0, if you have improvements please comment. The force of the springs repends on the air not escaping, so larger diameters may not support the upper bridge and require some infill.
