X-Struder V1
X-Struder V1

Hello Community! For the past few years I have been working a new, innovative project. X-Struder V1. The first application for permission to be on crowdfunding failed, but I am even more motivated to publish the model to the public. One reason that was cited is the unknown want for it in the public. The purpose of this forum is to increase popularity for this and gauge the want for it. The other reason for this forum is to post updates and for the community to collaborate on the design.

You may be wondering, what is the X-Struder V1? If you know anything about 3D Printing, you know about the most annoying problem, waste. Whether it be printer poop or failed prints, you always have waste. But what if you can recycle this waste back into filament that you can use again? Or what if you can make a spool of filament under $10? This is the solution! There are several filament extruders on the market, but they are either too complicated or too expensive, or do not even work!

If this does eventually get posted on Crowdfunding, I plan to make several tiers, including selling kits or even fully assembled units! The best part, most of the hardware parts can be me made on a 3D Printer, CNC/Laser Cutter. So if you have an H2D Combo, you can make almost all of the parts on it. (Excluding Electronics and Metal Parts)

Risks and Challenges

Creating a project like this requires time and precision, so unexpected challenges may occur. I have done my best to eliminate or rule out any challenges that may occur.

@3DPrinterers Thank You for the enthusiasm! I might start doing updates for everyone to see, but also follower's only updates (but I am not sure if you can follow a topic), I am still trying to figure out how to do this.

@_Jbear_ I like the concept but aside from the cost and availability factor, how is this system different from something like an ARTME or the FelFil Evo? What else does it improve apon in terms of reliability and mechanical function?

@3DPrinterers @_Jbear_ : No, that is also what is unique about the design. As custom screws can be expensive or hard to find, it uses a masonry drill bit which has similar geometry to a plastic screw. If you use an auger, it could cause air bubbles in the filament.

@_Jbear_ @3DPrinterers : Are you using a custom auger/screw?

@Pr1ntCraft I follow Loop and they just went back to the drawin board do to issues. What issues do you expect and what would be total cost of product? (not retail) You mention $10 is that total materials cost or no? Thank you and good luck with this.

@3DPrinterers @Pr1ntCraft : I agree, but It was the only way to get the parts I need affordably. The first batch came in already and everything is working properly. Thank you for having faith in this product! I will start posting updates soon .

@Pr1ntCraft @3DPrinterers : Thank you for the detail. I will be sure to follow this as you progress with the prototype. The cost is acceptable, but the source 😆 well lets just say I wish you luck on the components/ parts from that company.
