Say Hi to my new parametric, fully 3d printed flexible mold (for candles/ resin etc...)What started as a complicated task turned out to be quite simple when using a fully 3d printed approach.A FEW PARAMETERS LATER ... I ended up by printing a rigid outer frame out of PLA, that will clamp an inner flexible mold out of TPU creating the perfect seal for any molding procedure.As extra hardware and supports are every 3D printing enthusiast's nightmare, a simple 100% 3d printed philosophy was opted for. Therefore cutting  the mold in 2 or 4 then joining the parts with 3d printed clips. Thanks to the pla's unique ductility under force and TPU's ability to hold shape under high temperatures, this simple affordable combo was chosen. As the inner flexible mold doesn't have to accommodate any special joining geometry, the user is now able to orient the mold the way they wish!A complicated model with impossible overhangs? printing the mold on its side is the solution!A shallowly curved outer surface with special detailed patterns? printing the mold standing straight is the way to go! Want to print a heart or a model with multiple poking edges? orienting the model upside down with the melting channel on the top would be preferable!Sometimes the simplest solution proves out the be the most effective!Share with us what model will you be making next!
