Description
Enzo Form Blocks
IMPORTANT: Did you print the previously uploaded version of Enzo Form Blocks? See the note at the end.
Enzo Form Blocks are a versatile collection of 99 cubes, each with a unique geometric form. As a set they are designed to inspire creativity, learning, exploration, and structure. These 3D-printable shapes can be used in a wide range of contexts, such as for holding and displaying objects in custom shapes, nurturing curiosity and playfulness in toys and games, or in design and prototyping. Enzo Blocks provide a flexible and hands-on approach to problem-solving and innovation.
If you are not yet familiar with the system, we recommend you first download a ready-made set. All sets are combinable and infinitely expandable, so any one makes for a great starting point.
- Starter Kit (current model)
- Organization: Desk Organizer
Creative Play: Builder Set
Enzo Form Blocks are not only functional but also visually appealing and fun to assemble. They are a design object, organisational tool, and creative play toy all at once. And since their bases are compatible with the Gridfinity system, you have at your fingertips already a huge set of components to use them with.
Furthermore, there's series of files and supporting documentation with a less restrictive license for adaptation and modification, so the true limit of Enzo Form Blocks is your imagination. You can find more info on that here.
Starter Kit
This model includes a Starter Kit for Enzo Form Blocks designed to give you a hands-on introduction to the system. The starter kit features a 4x4 grid with a curated selection of 16 different blocks, allowing you to explore how the pieces fit together and experiment. It’s the perfect way to get a feel for Enzo Form Blocks before diving into the larger set of Form Blocks and customising your collection to suit your needs. If you really only just want to get your feet wet, print the Teaser of just four Form Blocks instead.
The Enzo Form Blocks System will continue to grow. Please comment if you're missing a specific piece or have an idea and follow to not miss an update!
Block Library
If you wish to print more Enzo Form Blocks, you can find the Block Library of original 1x1 Enzo Form Blocks here:
These Form Blocks are 6 Gridfinity units tall (i.e perfect cubes). There are also shortened variants (no longer perfect cubes) of these that are 4 Gridfinity units tall and 5 Gridfinity units tall.
Connecting Blocks and Keeping Them in Place
Enzo Form Blocks are designed to fit seamlessly into any Gridfinity baseplate you already own. If you're looking to print something specifically for your Form Blocks, we highly recommend the CLICKbase — a refined evolution of Clickfinity. CLICKbases feature smooth edges on all sides and can be expanded to any size, providing a clean and adaptable foundation for your Form Blocks. Once placed, Enzo Form Blocks snap securely onto the CLICKbase, offering a stable yet easily adjustable setup where the Form Blocks themselves don't need to be picked up.
For a semi-permanent solution, you can use adhesive dots (like these) or tape, which provide a discreet yet strong attachment, allowing the blocks to be lifted together as a single unit while still preserving their modularity. If a permanent configuration is desired, gluing the blocks together is also an option. However, it’s essential to glue them while arranged on a baseplate to ensure proper alignment and compatibility after the glue dries.
Printing Info
The files are set up so that the base of the form blocks has 3% Gyroid infill. This reduces plastic consumption while still remaining sturdy enough for most use cases. You can increase or decrease this in the slicer to suit your needs.
The default top layer surface pattern in the channels and rounded cutouts is "Concentric," which harmonises with their geometry. There is a modifier in the files to make the top surface pattern "Hilbert Curve". This blends most the lines between individual form blocks while providing a contrast to smoother texture of the channels and cutouts. You can change this in the slicer if you wish. If you can't or don't want to use "Hilbert Curve," "Concentric" is a good alternative since it is non-directional. Ironing the top surface would also look nice though take more time.

What's changed from the previous version(s)?
From first version of complete blocks to current version:
The basic form is very lightly adapted for expected modifcations and soon-to-be released attachment mechanisms.
The default channel width has changed.
- Version 1 blocks had a wider width of 28mm. This is no longer standard. The files remain for this width in the block library as legacy files to continue projects started with this size.
- Version 2 Enzo Form Blocks have an ever-so-slightly-narrower channel width of 26.5mm to better accomodate the top form geometry as well as expected modifications and attachment mechanisms (magnets) to be released soon.
- We've spent our time printing Enzo Form Blocks in various materials and testing several use cases. We tried our hardest to not change any of the initial dimensions to maintain full compatibility but unfortunately it just wasn't possible to do what we wanted in the remaining space at the top of the Form Blocks. 1.5mm less in the channel gives us a bit more wiggle room to support more attachment mechanisms (ex. magnets and stacking bits) and potential adaptations (ex. two-color) and thus makes more sense as a standard number.
- We don't expect there to be a Version 3 of Enzo Blocks with any of these basic dimensions changed.
From initial prototype to first version of complete blocks:
The basic form is simplified.
- The standard Enzo Form Block is now 41.5mm tall, which makes it a 41.5mm x 41.5mm X 41.5mm cube. From here on out, this is the standard size of an Enzo Form Block.
- The corners are always squared off as compared to a corresponding Gridfinity bin.
- For cases where you don't want a full cube, we have provided shortened variants that are 4 Gridfinity units tall and 5 Gridfinity units tall.
The default channel depth has changed.
- Prototype blocks had a shallower depth of 16mm. This is no longer standard.
- Standard Enzo Form Blocks have a channel depth of 20.75mm (half of the block height). For certain use cases, there will be shallow variant of Enzo Form Blocks with a depth of 13.83mm (one-third of the block height) as well as a corresponding deep variant with a depth of 27.67mm (two-thirds of the block height). A series of files for these will be uploaded soon.
They're organised!
- While you're probably a pro by now at differentiating Type A, Type B, and Type C blocks, every original Enzo Form Block now simply has a unique number embossed into the bottom and corresponding file in the block library. Please see the reference sheet attached below.
License change
- We needed a way to distinguish between official Enzo Form Blocks we provide and community designs. Hence the license on the original set of Enzo Form Blocks with the “Enzo”-Logo has been reverted to a Standard Digital File License.
- We've provided a template for an equivalent basic Form Block here under a CC BY-NC license
