Description

This is simply an extendable pointing finger that can be used for teaching or for any other form you see fit. The arm can be extended from 6 ½ inches (16.51cm) to 10 ½ inches (26.67cm) when fully expended. I have included two print profiles, one with ams compatibility and the other with no ams. I placed the objects on separate plates in the print profile with ams compatibility in order to reduce wasted filament. Also, when putting all the parts together make sure to put some super glue so that the pieces don't loosen over time. Hope you like it :)

one drop and the tiny weak peg fails so I redesigned my profile to have a simple negative hole in the whote hand, so u just jam the stick in there problem solved

Can you make your profile available to all printer models?

I just need HELIXPRINT to check off the X1E profile compatibility for the print.

Now I need to find a use for this nifty little pointer... I printed it as pictured in Bambu Studio (vertical) with the following changes: I broke out the STL into two separate STL's - the hand alone into one STL and the other three components into the other STL. I then placed the hand in one corner of the bed and the other in another corner. In Bambu Studio: Choose Others//Special Mode//Print Sequence//By Object. I choose white filament for the hand and black for the other components. This way, there is only one filament color change. The white hand prints first to completion, then the printer, X1C, continues to print the black handle parts.

I just saw a funny reel with a lady using a pointer to show all the stuff her husband leaves laying around.

the pins on the bottom cap have 0 tolerance, broke off as soon as i tried to push them in place, had to glue it instead, otherwise works okay. also if I hold it upright, the extended part just falls back inside, so it can only be used horizontally or diagonally. I also scaled it up by 150% in the Z-axis to make it longer, that worked out fine.

u Gota shave the pins also we should just replace the damn bottom cap with a simple peg to place in the hole hah just print the endcap with a cylinder same size ad that hole . I'll add that to my profile also I've also fixed the damn hand that breaks off if u drop it even gently hah I also fixed that adding negative cylinder in hand

Prints perfectly! Extension rod grip is strong and will not fall down easily.

Great project! MW doesn’t let me rate the profile higher than 3⭐️ because of the two failed prints, but since I actually think it deserves 4 or even 5, I’d rather leave a comment than give a low rating. It was a tricky print on a smooth PEI plate, even though it was quite brand new (less than 30 uses) and cleaned with hot water and soap just before printing. The first print came off the bed after just about 1/2 inch, and luckily the second one only came loose a few layers before the end (I suggest adding a 5 mm brim to avoid this). I was still able to use it by filling the missing layers and the resulting gap with a bit of superglue. Unfortunately my wife uses it to point out the mess I leave around the house…

Hahaha, so glad you ended up printing it despite the issue, I have a version 2 coming very soon that adresses all the issues pointed out in the comments and you can be sure I have taken all these comments into consideration when designing V2 so thank you very much for your comment, hope you enjoy the print👍
