Description

Printed with a 0.08mm layer height, but thats just for looks. id assume this would work anywhere between 0.16 to 0.08.

Printed with Bambulab matte white and red.

Requires one steel washer mounted on the inside of the outer casing, one m3 bolt that goes in the back of the case and a spring inside the cylinder.

The bulky lock mechanism takes quite some space, and im going to be looking for a way to make it as tiny as possible. For now though it works

suprisingly well, and can take quite some force/weight.

  1. mount the locking mechanism to the container in the hole inside. first put a washer on the inside and then secure it with a m3 bolt from the back of the box
  2. take the smaller cylinder and place it inside the larger one, oriented so the divets face the opening. Place the cylinder combo into the tray that holds the bits. its a press fit, but you can optionally glue it in place. Also you can grease the inside of the cylinder so there is less friction when rotating.
  3. put the spring inside for testing, or dab a bit of superglue to the end before placing it inside the cylinder.
  4. should we working now, but you may have to push it in/out a few times to get it smooth.

If you find the locking mechanism hard to print you can cut it in half and screw the two halves togehter with a m3 bolt with no head, and optionally glue them together before screwing in place. Otherwise it should all be printable with no supports.

If anybody actually wants to print this thing and have any questions let me know, or if anyone wants it fitted to smaller/bigger bits or other objects.
