Modular trolley Wheel

3D Printed trolley wheel – Rigid rim + TPU tire

Description

A functional 3D printable wheel, designed for trolleys, small mobile supports, garage, workshop, and DIY projects

The project consists of 2 separate parts:

🟠 Rigid rim
Recommended PETG or ABS

🔵 Flexible tire

Recommended in TPU 95A to improve grip on various surfaces

Recommended in TPU 95A to improve grip on various surfaces

The rim uses a 5-spoke design, chosen to seek a good balance between robustness, lightness, and reduced material consumption. The shape is not just aesthetic: the spokes help keep the wheel lighter than a solid disc, without sacrificing a structure suitable for functional use

The TPU 95A tire has a simple but practical outer tread pattern, designed to increase ground contact and make the wheel more versatile than a completely rigid wheel

Rim and tire have a dedicated mating profile, designed to reduce tire slippage on the rim during use. If the grip is not sufficient, due to printer tolerances, material, or applied load, it is recommended to glue the two parts together

✅ Support-free printable tire
✅ 2-piece design
✅ 5-spoke rim
✅ TPU tire for more grip
✅ Suitable for trolleys, garage, workshop, and maker projects

Assembly

Insert the TPU tire onto the rim by applying even pressure

The inner profile is designed to help the tire stay in place. If the tire tends to rotate on the rim during use, apply a small amount of glue between the two parts

Important note

This model is designed for functional DIY use
For heavy loads, always test before actual use. The final strength depends on material, print orientation, number of walls, infill, layer adhesion, and print quality

👉 In the photos, I tested PCTG Nobufil and TPU A 95 Geetech and chose them for colors, however, I obtained the best results with the combo in the print profile:
rim in PETG HF BambuLab and tire in TPU A 95 HF BambuLab.
