ANCHORVICE
Print Profile(1)

Description
Designed specifically for machining taller blocks where standard low-profile vices struggle.
AnchorVice V2 uses a 50mm jaw height to provide full side support for stock up to ~70mm, dramatically improving stability during cutting. The reinforced moving jaw includes a steel insert to eliminate flex under clamping pressure while maintaining a soft jaw surface to protect the workpiece.
The fixed jaw mounts directly to the CNC bed, allowing it to act as a repeatable reference edge, making this ideal for flip operations and multi-sided machining.
𧪠Proven in Use
- Stable machining of 70mm hardwood blocksÂ
- Successfully milled down to 50mm depth in one operationÂ
- Reliable indexing using the fixed jawÂ
- Flip machining achieved with near-perfect alignmentÂ
This is a function-first design, built for real CNC workânot just minimum profile.
âď¸ Key Features
- 50mm tall jaws for full side supportÂ
- Reinforced moving jaw with steel bar insertÂ
- Soft jaw surface (PLA-CF contact area)Â
- Twin guide rods prevent lift, twist, and yawÂ
- Bed-mounted fixed jaw for repeatable positioningÂ
- Designed around Carvera Air bed mounting pointsÂ
đ Dimensions & Critical Measurements
𧹠Overall
- Jaw Height: 50mmÂ
- Max recommended work height: ~70mmÂ
- Jaw width (working face): ~94mmÂ
- Jaw opening capacity: depends on rod length usedÂ
đŠ Steel Reinforcement Slot (Moving Jaw)
- Slot width: ~9.6mm (printed result)Â
- Designed for: 10mm steel barÂ
- Depth: 40mmÂ
- Length: 94mm (full width of jaw)Â
- Offset from face: ~4mm insetÂ
đ Note: Slot may vary by printer. Adjust:
- Either machine the steel bar to suitÂ
- Or adjust/scale slot in slicerÂ
đ§ Guide Rods (Anti-Twist System)
- Diameter: 6.5mm stainless rodsÂ
- Position: approx 10mm from baseÂ
- Fit: drill-through recommended after printingÂ
- Target: smooth sliding fit with no wobbleÂ
đ§ Clamping Bolts
- Size: M8 (8mm) hex boltsÂ
- Position: approx 30mm above baseÂ
- Function: main clamping forceÂ
- Fixed jaw includes nut traps (no spanner required)Â
𧡠Bed Mounting (Fixed Jaw)
- Uses Carvera bed threaded holesÂ
- Hole spacing: 45mm centresÂ
- Total mounting points: 6 across full jawÂ
- Function: turns fixed jaw into machine referenceÂ
𧾠Print Settings (Tested)
Moving Jaw (Reinforced V2)
- Material: PLA-CFÂ
- Walls: 8 perimetersÂ
- Infill: 60%Â
- Pattern: GyroidÂ
- Layer height: 0.2mm recommendedÂ
- Orientation: flat on baseÂ
Fixed Jaw
- Material: PLA-CFÂ
- Infill: 30%Â
- Pattern: GyroidÂ
- Walls: 4â6 perimetersÂ
đŠ Hardware Required
- 2 Ă 6.5mm stainless steel rods (cut to length)Â
- 1 Ă 10mm steel bar (approx 94mm long Ă 40mm deep)Â
- 2 Ă M8 boltsÂ
- 2 Ă M8 nutsÂ
- 6 Ă M5 bolts (for mounting to CNC bed)Â
đ ď¸ Assembly Notes
- Fit steel reinforcement bar into moving jaw (press fit or machined fit)Â
- Insert guide rods (drill holes if required for smooth movement)Â
- Slide moving jaw onto rodsÂ
- Insert M8 bolts through both jawsÂ
- Nuts locate in captive slots in fixed jawÂ
- Mount fixed jaw directly to CNC bed using M5 boltsÂ
â ď¸ Important Notes
- Steel slot prints at ~9.6mmâexpect variation between printersÂ
- Guide rod holes may require drilling/reamingÂ
- Designed for rigidity and support, not ultra-low profileÂ
- Ideal for wood, plastics, and light CNC workÂ
đĄ Best Use Cases
- Tall block machiningÂ
- Deep pocketing / internal machiningÂ
- Flip machining with alignmentÂ
- Repeatable setups using fixed jaw as datumÂ
đ Files & Sharing
This project includes both:
- STL files (ready to print)Â
- STEP files (fully editable)Â
Feel free to modify, improve, or adapt the design to suit your own setup or workflow.
This is a free shareâdo whatever you like with it.
If it helps you solve a problem or gets you machining better, then thatâs exactly what itâs here for đ
If you do make improvements or variations, Iâd genuinely like to see what you come up with.
đ§ Creator Note
Built in the mancave to solve a real problemâholding tall stock securely on the Carvera Air while maintaining alignment and repeatability.

The Bamboo project plate has all 3 parts you may only want the steel one or one without, just remove the one you donât need, same with the strength this project is 60% infill and 7 layers for added strength and rigidity
