Description
3D Printed Paper Plane – Print Directly on Paper ✈️
This unique 3D Printed Paper Plane combines traditional paper craft with 3D printing. Instead of printing a full plastic model, you print directly onto a sheet of paper, creating a lightweight structure reinforced with printed elements for better flight performance.
This design is made from scratch but inspired from printables: @TomStanton, you can appreciate his work on printables.
🧠 How It Works
- Place a sheet of paper on your printer bed
- The printer lays down the plane structure directly onto the paper
- After printing, cut along the outline
- Assemble the parts to complete the plane
This approach keeps the plane extremely light while adding strength exactly where needed.
🖨️ Print Instructions
- Supports: ❌ No support required
- Infill (Plane Body): 100% (important for front weight balance)
- Other Parts: Standard infill
- Layer Height: 0.2 mm recommended
⚠️ Use very thin and lightweight paper for best results. Heavier paper will affect flight performance and reduce lift.
Make sure the paper is securely fixed to the bed (using light tape or adhesive) to prevent movement during printing.
✂️ Assembly
- Carefully cut along the printed outline
- Separate all required parts
- Glue all parts together for final assembly
Proper alignment during assembly will significantly improve flight stability.
✈️ Design Features
- Ultra-lightweight hybrid construction
- Weighted front section for stable flight
- Minimal material usage
- Easy and quick to print
⚠️ Important Notes
- Ensure the paper lies completely flat before printing
- Use minimal glue to avoid adding unnecessary weight
- Flight performance depends on paper quality, weight, and assembly accuracy
