Description
A mini portable gum container with a screw-top lid — pocket-sized EDC case for carrying gum, pills, earplugs, or small everyday items without the bulk of original packaging.
The origin story
I designed this because of a very specific problem at school. Every time I pulled out my Extra gum tub, the rattle would give me away — and suddenly everyone within earshot wanted a piece. Between the noise and the social tax of being the class gum dispenser, the standard packaging wasn't working for me. So I made this: small enough to stay quiet in a pocket, sealed enough to keep the gum fresh, and discreet enough that it doesn't announce itself every time I move.
Turns out it's also just a great general-purpose EDC container.
Why it's useful
The standard Extra tub is bulky, rattly, and too big for most pockets. This is a compact screw-top pod sized for everyday carry — the footprint of a lip balm tube, but holds a proper handful of gum. Also works well as a pill case, earplug holder, or small parts container.
Features
- Threaded screw-top lid with smooth engagement
- Pocket-sized, roughly lip-balm-tube footprint
- Fits approximately 8–12 pieces of standard Extra gum
- Two parts, prints in one go, no supports needed
- Sealed enough to keep contents clean and dust-free
Print settings (fast profile)
- Nozzle: 0.4mm
- Layer height: 0.2mm
- Walls: 2
- Infill: 8% honeycomb
- Top/bottom: 3 layers
- Supports: none
- Material: PLA (PETG recommended for thread longevity)
- Print time: ~30 minutes
- Tested on: Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2 - Same dimensions as Bambulabs P1S
This is a lightweight fast profile — the geometry is small enough that it prints strong without needing heavier settings. If you want extra durability for daily pocket carry, bump walls to 3 and infill to 15%.
Tips
- If you feel the thread isn't following through - don't worry just twist back n forth a few times with medium - high force. It will break through and work after that.
- If threads feel tight on first use, a small amount of candle wax smooths them out — they break in after a few cycles
- Looks great in two-tone if you have AMS or can do a manual filament swap at the lid layer
