Description
Hexa Smiley – Attachment for Govee LED Hexagons
This design is far more than just decoration. I originally developed it for my almost blind son to specifically promote visual perception.
The therapeutic background (CVI Support):
In children with CVI (Cerebral Visual Impairment), the brain preferentially reacts to light sources and highly saturated colors. Since recognizing human faces is one of the most complex functions of the visual center, this abstract, illuminated model helps reduce complexity. It serves as an excellent visual stimulation and training tool.
Model Structure:
The set has a modular design and consists of three components:
- Important, Govee LED Hexagons are required!
- The Base (Transparent Shell): Simply slides onto the Govee Hexagon panel. It holds securely by friction, without any adhesive on the panel itself.
- The Diffusion Rim: Transforms the hexagonal shape into a calming, round illuminated surface. This is fixed to the shell with a few drops of adhesive.
The Smiley Inlay: The actual motif is glued to the inner surface. Depending on the level of detail, a little dexterity is required here.
Note: I will continuously expand the selection of available designs and faces over time.
Why I Share My Designs
Behind each of my models lies a very special reason: my 3-year-old son.
He lives with an extremely rare genetic defect (only about 20 known cases worldwide) which causes severe epilepsy, visual impairment, and muscle weakness.
Many of my designs arose out of necessity because commercial toys or aids are either unaffordable or simply unsuitable for his special needs. I share these projects in the hope that they can make everyday life easier for other families in similar situations or bring a smile.
Not every model is directly related to my son. I also share practical solutions here that have proven useful in our family life.
Support & Mission:
All proceeds or collected points go 100% into the development of new projects for the little one..
