Description
Imagine the scene: a green laser beam begins to strike the sacred rock of South Dakota as the poor faces of Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt, and Lincoln are literally vaporized into a cloud of dust and debris
In their place, with a speed and surgical precision worthy of a somewhat psychopathic space hairdresser, those enormous exposed skulls and bulging eyes that we have learned to fear begin to emerge
It's the definitive moment when you realize the Martians have no intention of "coming in peace," as they continue to croak through their voice translators
As Danny Elfman's solemn music underscores the gravity of the moment, the absurdity of seeing those four alien big heads, all identical and with that perpetually stunned and malevolent expression, towering over the forest is pure black comedy
It's as if the Martians decided the planet wasn't "stylish" enough and started the redesign right from the big shots
Essentially, they transform a national monument into a giant group selfie carved in stone, leaving humanity speechless before the greatest intergalactic troll in cinematic history
