Customizable Bed Storage
Print Profile(1)

Description
This is a fully customizable storage bin that can hook on the side of your bed! Great for holding books, iPads, or your kid's books on their bunk bed!
Customize to fit your needs! You can adjust:
- The Bin Opening's width, depth, and height
- The Hook's depth and height to exactly fit your bed-rail
- The wall thickness of both the storage compartment AND the hook
- The size of the front cutout to make it look the way you like
What's with the angle on the side? That angle allows this to be printed in the orientation that maximizes strength AND removes the need for supports (saving a lot of filament!). Note: I tested several common sizes, but unusual dimensions might still need supports - so I'd suggest slicing it with supports turned on just to be safe.
Here is a complete list of the adjustments and what they do. I'm describing these as if it were hanging on a bed (i.e. not how it prints):
- Bin Opening Width - The amount of space left-to-right.
- Wide books? Make this number bigger!
- Bin Opening Height - The amount of space top-to-bottom.
- Tall magazines? Make this number bigger!
- Bin Opening Depth - The amount of space front-to-back.
- iPad storage? Make this number smaller!
- Bin Wall Thickness - The thickness of of the main storage walls.
- You likely won't need to change this but you can if you want!
- Hook Depth - The part that hooks over your bedrail.
- Set this to the thickness of your bed-rail. Give yourself ~.5-1mm of extra space for printing tolerance to make sure it will fit.
- Hook Height - How far down the hook extends.
- If this is too long, the hook won't fully seat. Measure the BACK of your rail - not the front - to account for slats that take up room.
- Hook Wall Thickness - The thickness of the hook.
- Use the dictionary to put yourself to sleep and need this thing to be chonky? Make this number bigger!
- Cutout Depth - How far down the front cut-out goes.
- This is for aesthetic and filament-saving reasons. Too small might cause some strange-looking results, and too deep might require supports to print. I typically shoot for just under half of the Bin Opening Height.
This is my first parametric (customizable) design, so please let me know how it works and what I can improve. I hope you enjoy!
