Description

Hi, I needed to bring some filament onto AMS compatible spools, I've seen excellent projects around but too complex and expensive, I don't want to waste filament, time and money buying bearings, screws or anything else.

Simplifying as much as possible and without needing anything else apart from a printer, I designed this. Simplicity is fundamental for me! you can use the crank, or a screwdriver on the removable pin.

WARNING: for the unwinding spool I use an open filament dryer, otherwise print the parts 2 times to have a complete set

If you are interested feel free to bring updates, I left

Attempted with PETG-CF and everything seemed to come out OK, but upon fastening the bar together the male side broke off inside the female before I got anywhere close to it being finished. I was thinking PETG-CF would be a little tougher than just standard PETG but I could be wrong. Going to reprint just the male bar again but with more infill and a different pattern to test.

Hello, as you mentioned, CF has superior strength, but as I've found in my other projects, its lack of smoothness causes a lot of friction between parts, so the design tolerances would need to be re-evaluated

I think you're correct...it didn't seem like a smooth turn into the hole of the receiver so i'll try with just basic PETG on my next run and let you know!

Thank you for the easy print. - Minimal material. - Minimal Components. - Option of manual or automated rotaton. - Threads worked without issue; sufficient surface-surface contact to maintain a good fit.

am I missing something? I printed this 3 times with different filaments and different strengths. the male and female Jam each time and the male snaps. even trying to go in and out a little at a time. how were folks successful with this? I tried with and without supports as well.

What am I doing wrong? I printed the trays, but the original Bambu filament is too small – I can't tighten it, so it wobbles around.
