Bio
3D printing enthusiast, automotive development engineer, craftsman ...
I use 3D prints for my craftsmanship projects, house improvements etc. Thats why most of my parts are tough, tight fit and sturdy.
Majority of my prints are functional - only few are for "decoration".
I also have many of my prints located in the exterior - as I use them during outside work, in winter, summer - harsh conditions. Thats why i dont use much PLA but mostly PETG.

#2024 Annual Summary After 7 years of printing experience with Prusa machines, I switched to Bambu A1 (which is shame as I am from Czech Republic). But A1 was a clear winner in value/price ratio - and I dont regret my choice! I finished some of my biggest projects this year - over 70kg of filament ran through the A1 nozzle, running nearly non-stop.
I dont print any "dust collecting things" like figures etc. I am a practical guy and I think outside of the single print dimensions.
The project I would like to share with You is my new gates for both of my car parking lots. I welded the frame from stainless steel - but there the metal work ended and 3D printing began! I designed the infill in FreeCAD (as all my other models) and started printing. One "wing" of the gate needed 40 of these tiles (most of them square, but some are triangle ones) - each having rougly 220grams of PETG. Material needed for one wing was around 9kg = 36kg total for these gates. Same was used for several more infills in my fence and doors.
I use PETG in exterior for last 7 years and never had any issues with material degrading.
All tiles are connected with printed dowels (of course oriented horizontally so there is no snapping of layers during winter/summer heat expansion of materials). No glue used, just the friction. And the completed triangular shapes (1,8x1,2 meters big) are connected to steel frame using specially designed holders that are screwed to the frame.
I hope I will motivate others to start doing really big things - even with such a small printer as simple Bambulab A1! To be honest - i am amazed, that the machine keeps running and running and I dont know a word "repair" since its purchase!
And having such huuuuge 3d prints outside is a great attraction and may lure some "customers" to You :)
