Designing a Reusable Mounting Module
Universal Mounting Module for Bambu Lab Rechargeable Power Kit ZC003While working on a new motorized project using the Bambu Lab Rechargeable Power Kit, I realized it was a perfect candidate for something I increasingly do in my designs: creating reusable modules. Instead of designing another enclosure just for that project, I decided to invest a little more time and create a universal mounting module that I could reuse in future projects—and eventually share with the community. As I gain more experience with CAD design, I also find myself thinking differently about new projects. Whenever I create a part that I expect to use again, I try to turn it into a reusable module in Fusion 360. Many iterationsThis project went through far more iterations than the final model might suggest. I experimented with several internal layouts, including versions where the electronics board was mounted vertically to reduce the overall size. Although those designs looked promising, they never felt quite right. The USB-C connector and power switch had to align perfectly with the housing, while the electronics also needed to remain easy to remove. Since the whole idea is to reuse the module in future projects, permanently trapping the electronics inside the enclosure was never an option. I tried many different locating tabs, support ribs and retention features before settling on the final solution. In the end, placing the electronics board flat on the bottom and securing it with the cover plate proved to be both the simplest and the most reliable design. I don't mind investing extra time in a reusable module because I know I'll benefit from it in future projects. Most prototypes solved one problem while introducing another. Each iteration brought me a little closer to a solution that was compact, practical and easy to reuse. Only after many small refinements did everything come together in a design that felt right. I hope this reusable module helps other makers spend less time designing electronics enclosures and more time creating the projects they actually want to build. I'm looking forward to seeing what the community creates with it.

While working on a new motorized project using the Bambu Lab Rechargeable Power Kit, I realized I was spending time designing a custom enclosure for the electronics before I could even start designing the actual project.
Instead of solving that problem just for myself, I decided to create a universal mounting module and share it with the community.
This compact module turns the charger board, LiPo battery, and N20 gear motor into a single reusable building block. Install the electronics once, then simply design your own project around the module instead of redesigning the electronics layout every time.
I hope this helps other designers get started more quickly and spend more time designing their projects instead of designing the enclosure.

#Newmodel – TurnTable
While designing ShowStage360, I developed a compact gear-driven rotation system for displaying models. During that project, I realized the same mechanism would also make a great tool for photographing, filming, and even scanning 3D prints.
That idea became TurnTable.
It's a motorized rotating platform designed for smooth 360° product videos, photography, photogrammetry, and model presentations. The platform runs on Maker's Supply plug-and-play components, so no soldering is required, and the adjustable speed controller makes it easy to match the rotation speed to your camera setup.
One of my favorite features is the removable top plate. Instead of being permanently attached, it simply drops into place, making it easy to swap different surfaces depending on what you're doing. I've also included the top plate as a STEP file, so you can create your own photography plates, scanning plates, model-specific holders, or even larger platforms while reusing the same drive mechanism.
Although TurnTable started as a spin-off from ShowStage360, it has become a useful project in its own right—and I hope it helps others create better photos, smoother videos, and easier photogrammetry scans of their models.

ShowStage360 – From Idea to Finished Project
When MakerWorld announced the S-Shape LED Strip KitChallenge, I wanted to create something that would use lighting to present a model rather than become the model itself. One of the biggest challenges was developing the rotating platform. I experimented with several concepts, including printed bearings and Lazy Susan style mechanisms. While these worked, they generated more friction and noise than I wanted. The final design uses ball bearings and stainless steel dowel pins. Early prototypes used bearings that were too small and positioned too close to the center, reducing stability. The final version uses larger bearings placed further outward, resulting in a very stable platform that rotates smoothly with minimal friction. Printed gears - 4 small bearings and finally the setup with 3 larger bearings Final drive system with large bearings for smooth rotation I also tested multiple drive solutions before selecting a 030 micro motor with a 1:48 reduction gear kit. To achieve a slow and smooth rotation speed, I designed a custom gear train using a 12-tooth pinion and a 124-tooth main gear. Another challenge was the lighting itself. I wanted the LEDs to be visible through the structure without exposing the individual light points. After several iterations, I settled on a hexagonal diffuser pattern in the LED arch and custom diffuser grids in the truss towers and along the stage edges. These create a much softer and more uniform lighting effect while preserving the stage-inspired look of the design.Top Diffuser Like many engineering projects, the final design is the result of many iterations. Nearly every major component was printed, tested, adjusted and printed again. The rotating platform, gear train, truss structures and diffuser system all went through multiple prototype versions before reaching the final design. Looking back at the collection of test parts and discarded prototypes, it is clear that the finished model represents far more than a single print—it is the result of many design decisions, experiments and refinements along the way.The result of many design iterations During development, the S-Shape LED Strip was routed through numerous bends and twists and was assembled and disassembled multiple times as the design evolved. I was impressed by how well the strip handled this process. Despite repeated adjustments and tight routing through the trusses and arch, it remained fully functional throughout development — good thing too, because I only had one LED strip to work with. The result is ShowStage360: a compact RGB display stage designed to showcase collectibles, miniatures and 3D prints. Thank you to MakerWorld for selecting and supporting this project.
