Fidget Blanket - A Soothing Sensory Toy and Functional Coaster

Update 241221: Added a “Big Blanket” from requests I recieved. Did not upload a print profile you will need to get the STL and slice. Enjoy

This Fidget Blanket is the perfect combination of fun, functionality, and focus! Whether you need a tactile tool to help with concentration or just something to keep your hands busy, this fidget toy delivers an incredibly soothing experience for kids and adults alike.

About the Design:
Inspired by models like Bessie the Starfish from STLFlix, I challenged myself to recreate that design style—and the result is this delightful fidget toy. Its texture and flexibility make it irresistible to play with, and it doubles as a coaster for added versatility.

Specifications:

Size: Approximately 4" x 4"
Make sure your bed is clean! The bottom layer needs good adhesion to come out!
Print Settings:
- Layer Height: Any layer height works well, I used 0.16
- Walls/Infill: I recommend 3 walls and 10% infill, but feel free to use your go-to settings—this model is very forgiving.

I know right, I read that if you put the flow percentage to 18 instead of 10 you get much better results (for PLA at least)

Yeah I have been reading up on ironing and testing some stuff out since printing this. Flow at 38% and speed at around 150 seems to give me even better results, But I'm going to test it some more. 😎

I never thought to go up to 38 yet, but then again I don't really play with it that much. I used to have issues with bubbling on the surface when I used only the default value

This is SO GOOD and it prints amazing! The cubes are smaller than the NASA blanket and honestly better to play with. 10/10 would print again.

this is one of the most satisfying fidgets I’ve made!! I can’t stop playing with it and I had to print a second for my wife. I am working on printing a full coaster set and I would love if you shared the holder you have in your pictures (sorry if you already have, I just couldn’t find it!). Oh, I have to add that I had one print fail. it was my fault tho! I forgot to clean the plate beforehand and at some point it unstuck. Just know that this is a MUST clean the plate kind of print and you’ll be good!

Looks great! For the larger size you have to download the STL and slice manually. It won't seem to let me upload a print profile for it saying it's too complex to slice effectively (because it has a bajillion pieces). Sorry

I realized the model is not symmetric due to having even number of segments, so I modify it to have odd number so that it has a center and every corner has a segment. I modified it directly in the Bambu Studio by splitting it 2x at the center of a segment that I've selected as the mid-segment, then copy it 3x time. You can also do this to increase the amount of segments. Before & after:

This is amazing! My family loves these. The prints have gone pretty smooth. I always made sure that the bed was clean with 99% alcohol. I printed using your profile in Bambu Studio and didn't adjust anything. They came out great!! Thanks!
