Laptop Stand

I wanted a laptop stand that could securely clamp to the edge of my desk without taking up valuable workspace. After trying several existing designs and finding none that met my needs, I decided to design one from scratch. The result is a fully adjustable clamp-mounted laptop stand capable of supporting a 16” MacBook Pro while providing a comfortable ergonomic viewing height and freing up desk space.

  • The arm is available in 2 different lenghts (150mm and 300mm)

  • Sturdy construction to support laptops up to 2.5kg (Tested with 4kg weight)

  • Compatible with most FDM 3D printers with a build volume of at least 256x256x256mm

Filament Usage

This project prioritizes rigidity and stability over minimizing material usage. Since it is designed to support an expensive laptop above your desk, I intentionally oversized many structural components to reduce flex and improve long-term durability

  • 300mm Arm:

Compatibility

Tested with:

  • MacBook Pro 16" (2.3kg)

Designed for:

  • Laptops up to 16" (may work with larger laptops if overhang is acceptable)

  • 1.5" to 2.5"

  • PLA + Support + TPU

Assembly steps

Put the thing into the thing, and then put the other thing into the other thing. Then tighten the bolts and nuts. Done. :P It's pretty self-explanatory, but if you have any questions, feel free to reach out.

Known limitations

  • Fits desk thicknesses between 1.5" and 2.5"
  • The arm (300mm) can only extend so far, so if you have a very large laptop, it may not fit. Alternatively, I created a 150mm arm as well.
  • The platform is designed for laptops up to 16", but it may work with larger laptops if you don't mind the overhang.
  • The pivot joint may allow for rotation of the platform at certain angles, but it may not be stable at all angles. Use caution when rotating the platform.
  • Use common sense and caution when using the pivot joint.

I am planning on making a version of the pivot joint that has an additional pivot point to allow for more angles and better stability. I will update this page when I have a new version of the pivot joint available.

This stand is intended for use with laptops and similar lightweight devices. While it has been successfully tested with a 4 kg weight, every printer and material behaves differently. Inspect your printed parts before use and verify the assembly is secure before placing valuable equipment on the stand.
