Description

I needed a small downdraft box so I could sand small plaster figures without getting dust everywhere. I designed this one to fit my Milwaukee M18 Shop Vac and use a sheet of sanding screen on top.

The white sanding plate can be removed, and the tabs of the sanding screen wrap around the sides before the plate is snapped back into place. The sloped interior helps direct plaster dust toward the shop vac opening.

I printed the box on its side to make the sloped interior as smooth as possible, which means supports are required. I highly recommend using an interface layer (I used PETG supports with PLA) to make support removal much easier afterward.

When it’s time to replace or remove the sanding screen, simply insert a finger through the vacuum attachment opening and push up on the sanding plate.
