Description

Redtail catfish, named for their vibrant red fins, are native to the Orinoco, Essequibo, and Amazon River basins in South America. Juveniles of the species are commonly sold for home aquariums which usually ends in disaster as they tend to eat any smaller fish in the enclosure and quickly grow to over 4 ft long (the world record catch was a 55 inch 123 lb monster). They have chemical receptors on their long whiskers and can communicate through clicking sounds. Unlike other bottom-feeding catfish, they are active swimmers when hunting. This fish is high up on my bucket list and I thought a flexi version would be fun!
