Description
Wavy box – by L.A.
During a recent conversation with a friend, I was told: “your box generators are nice, but they are too basic for my taste”…
He wasn't entirely wrong; all the boxes I've made are relatively boring and standard…
So after too many hours of research and work, I created this Wavy box. Its shape is derived from a mathematical formula, specifically designed to generate a non-repeating wave, to give it a futuristic, elegant, and organic look.
Unfortunately, due to the multitude of programs used, this project cannot be uploaded as a customizable model. Therefore, if you would like a customized version, do not hesitate to commission it from me. (I would even do it for free if it weren't for the fact that each size change requires several hours of work)
Printing tips:
For proper printing of the box, the build plate must be adequately cleaned and calibrated. Furthermore, for this model, the choice of material plays a fundamental role; therefore, it is highly recommended to use PLA Silk + for the wavy part, which provides a metallic and shiny appearance. As I have not tested other filaments, I cannot guarantee the result. Conduct tests at your own risk.
External model dimensions:
External long side: 115 mm
External short side: 55 mm
External height: 84.5 mm
Internal model dimensions:
Internal long side: 110 mm
Internal short side: 50 mm
Internal height: 82.5 mm
! on the 4 corners there are recesses of 7 mm diameter for the magnets !
Recommended print settings:
- nozzle 0.4mm
- PLA Matte Bambu Lab for the base and lid
- PLA Silk + Bambu Lab for the wavy part
- A textured print bed will add aesthetics to the finished product!
The uploaded print profiles have been optimized for this model, therefore, I invite you to use them.
All test models and the final model were made with my A1 mini and are therefore compatible with all higher-end printers. The project was created using Fusion 360 and Blender, with several prototypes to ensure maximum functionality and strength. It does not require supports but does require brief post-print assembly.
Required for assembly:
Glue for the rear joint
X8 magnets 6mm diameter and 3mm height (I am attaching the purchase link directly from the Bambu Lab website)
Personal note:
I like to push my 3D modeling skills to the limit, and this box was certainly an excellent exercise. I hope you will appreciate it as much as I do, and see you soon with more projects!
P.S.
I wanted to thank everyone who, through comments, direct messages, and boosts, helped and motivated me to create even better models. What I'm finding here is truly a wonderful community, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
