Description

I needed a slim case for a Meshtastic mesh node that I could easily carry in my pocket. I was tired of bulky nodes and wanted something smaller.

My V1 design was quite slim but lacked a power switch and wasn't the most aesthetic. So here comes V2!

 

This case is a bit more durable, has a power switch, and can have a pocket clip!

 

The case squeezes in a 103450 lipo battery and the RAK19003 board.

This build does require very basic soldering. You need to solder the switch to the positive lead of the battery. Measure the correct distance by test-fitting the battery and switch in the case, and cut the red wire to fit. One end of the newly cut wire should be soldered to the center pin of the switch, and the other wire end of the wire can go to either of the outside pins.

 

Battery life estimates:

From my use, this is the approximate battery life you could get for each configuration

 

Using a 2000mAh battery:

10 -14 days (I have averaged 11 days, 6 hours)

 

 

The 19003 board mounts using the included screws. 

The lid attaches using some M2x8 screws.

 

The pocket clip mounts using M2x6 screws and M2 Threaded inserts

The switch I used is a SS12F15G3 for a flush fit. If you want it to extrude slightly, then use the SS12F15G5

 

This is the battery I used, is a 103550 battery

 

 

NOTE: This battery comes with the plug in the wrong polarity! Make sure to switch the wires around. Tutorial on repining: 

 

As always, please verify the polarity of the battery connector!
