Description

This sieve is perfect for sifting soil and dirt for potting! Sift out all unwanted large wood pieces and rocks, leaving smooth and consistent potting soil. Ideal for potting vegetables, flowers, succulents, ferns, tomatoes, and other indoor or greenhouse plants.

Re-use a filament or shipping box to keep the dirt from falling off the sides, saving plastic, time, and making the sieve more accessible and easier to print.

The standard size works great with most filament boxes, fitting precisely inside their boxes. Double check before printing, however.

Recommended usage;

  1. Measure the size of a filament box and scale the model accordingly.
  2. Cut a hole in the bottom of the filament box while you wait for the print.
  3. Place the print inside the filament box. You can choose to cut holes in the box for the handles.
  4. If you need to remove it, grab the handles and pull.
  5. Sift as much dirt as you would like!

For printers with smaller print beds, such as the A1 Mini, print the attached spacer separately and use it in the corner to keep the sieve stable. By default, the sieve is 20 cm wide; scaling it to 18 cm and using the spacer will allow it to fit snugly inside a 20cm box, just as though you had printed the full-size model.

You might want to use tape or glue to keep the sieve held down; it's up to you. I haven't needed it, and I've used it for over 200 plant pots worth of soil.

As the model is thin, it effectively prevents warping from mattering much. Even if your first layer isn't great, that's okay! It was designed to print even in a drafty room.

Recommended materials: PLA, TPU
